Overview
The WQS is Devlabs' continuous water quality monitoring system — designed to replace or supplement manual grab sampling with autonomous, 24/7 data collection at discharge points, watercourses, and research sites.
The system operates as a Modbus RTU master, polling a field-configurable suite of water quality probes at a defined averaging interval. Averaged data is transmitted via LoRaWAN to the Devlabs platform, where it is available in near real-time. No local network infrastructure is required at the deployment site.
Water quality monitoring is increasingly required on major construction projects — particularly those near sensitive watercourses or with significant groundwater dewatering operations. The WQS is designed to provide continuous, time-stamped data for permit compliance and environmental management, at a cost and operational footprint significantly lower than traditional in-situ monitoring approaches. Key features
Configurable probe suite
Choose from pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, TSS, conductivity, nitrate, COD, ISE sensors, water temperature, and flow measurement. Each WQS is configured per project to match the specific parameters required.
LoRaWAN telemetry — no local infrastructure needed
Sensor data is transmitted via LoRaWAN. No local network, no Ethernet cable, no SIM in the monitoring enclosure. A single Devlabs gateway can provide coverage across an entire construction site.
Continuous 24/7 autonomous monitoring
Replaces manual grab sampling with time-stamped measurements at a configurable averaging interval (60 s default). Data is available on the Devlabs platform in near real-time.
Threshold alerting
Configure per-parameter alarm thresholds. When a measurement breaches a set limit, the Devlabs platform sends automatic alerts to designated contacts — reducing the monitoring burden on site teams.
IP65 outdoor enclosure
The WQS controller housing is rated IP65 for permanent outdoor installation at the monitoring location. The controller stays above the waterline; probes are deployed in-water on a dedicated probe holder.
Remote data access
Live and historical data is available on the Devlabs platform from any browser. Export in CSV or JSON for regulatory submission, permit compliance reporting, or research.
