Data centre construction

Your single point of entry for every environmental obligation on a data centre build — temperature, dust, noise, vibration, weather, discharge water and cleanroom classification, on one platform, with one weekly report and live alarms the whole team trusts.

What makes this environment demanding to monitor?

A data centre build runs for years and carries an environmental brief that grows as the structure goes up. During the pour, concrete temperature can't fall below safe limits. Once the building is closed in, internal temperature trending toward dew point causes condensation on critical surfaces. The site boundary has dust, NO₂ and noise conditions. Piling and breaking raise ground-borne vibration near neighbours. Local authorities mandate discharge water monitoring. At fit-out, parts of the building need ISO 14644 cleanroom classification — a standard most construction teams have never worked to before. Each of these usually means a different vendor, a different login, and a different report. What the site team actually wants is one supplier who covers all of it and hands them a single, auditable record.

Temperature & humidity

Devlabs LoRaWAN T/RH sensors are the workhorse of a data centre build. Teams use them to alarm if temperature falls below safe limits during concrete pouring; to watch internal T/RH trending toward dew point after the building is closed in — triggering alarms or switching on heaters and dehumidifiers before condensation forms; and for general temperature monitoring across the structure. Wireless, fast to place, and easy to reposition as the build progresses.

Live alarms across every parameter

Clients run on alarms — not just temperature. Noise, dust, vibration, discharge water: every parameter carries configurable thresholds that fire email and SMS the moment a limit is approached, to whichever site contacts need them.

The weekly report they actually open

A scheduled PDF lands in inboxes every week showing the past week's environmental readings and every alarm raised. For most clients this is the primary deliverable — the evidence pack that keeps the authority, the consultant and the contractor aligned without anyone logging in.

Boundary air quality

DGEM units at the boundary monitor PM2.5/PM10 with particle number, NO₂ and CO, and noise — over 4G LTE with a pre-configured SIM, so nothing depends on site internet.

Weather & wind

Devlabs weather sensors give the team the wind and weather data they use to plan work and anticipate conditions — alongside the records that dust dispersion assessment requires.

Ground-borne vibration

Where piling, compaction or breaking happens near existing structures, the Devlabs vibration monitor provides continuous awareness-grade PPV, KB and dominant frequency monitoring with live threshold alerts — giving the site team and consultant a continuous trending record and early warning before a limit is reached.

Discharge water

Authorities mandate discharge water monitoring; it's often unfamiliar territory for a construction team. WQS systems at dewatering and surface drainage outfalls monitor pH, turbidity, TSS, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and flow, with per-parameter permit-breach alarms.

ISO 14644 cleanroom classification

When a build reaches fit-out and needs ISO 14644 classification — commonly ISO 8 or ISO 9 — the Devlabs Cleanroom Particle Counter delivers on-device class readout. Classification monitoring is frequently our point of entry on a new site; once we're solving that, we become the natural single point of entry for everything else environmental on the build.

One record, many viewers

The environmental consultant gets full platform access; the principal contractor gets a co-branded view without a full account; the weekly report generates automatically from the same data.

DGEM air quality is indicative monitoring — not a certified reference instrument for regulatory reference reporting. Where a permit requires reference-grade data, Devlabs advises on parallel reference arrangements.

Devlabs vibration monitoring is awareness-grade. For formal regulatory compliance measurement requiring a certified instrument (DIN 45669-1 Class 1), a calibrated geophone-based system is required — Devlabs can advise on arrangements.

Deployment scenario

A principal contractor on a hyperscale programme in Northern Europe started with a single problem: an ISO 14644 classification requirement the team had never worked to before. Devlabs handled it — and became the site's single point of entry for the rest. LoRaWAN T/RH sensors were deployed through the structure for pour-temperature and dew-point alarms; DGEM units at the boundary covered PM2.5/PM10, NO₂ and noise; vibration monitors sat near the piling works; and WQS systems covered the authority-mandated discharge points. Every parameter fed one dashboard, with live email/SMS alarms and a single weekly PDF report to the environmental manager, consultant and contractor.
