Solution
General construction sites
Permit-driven dust, noise, vibration and discharge water monitoring — on site within days, minimal setup, and auditable records the authority will accept. One supplier, one dashboard, one weekly report.

What makes this environment demanding to monitor?
Most construction projects carry environmental permit conditions — dust and noise limits, ground-borne vibration thresholds near neighbours, and point-source discharge water requirements. The team is accountable for evidencing compliance, but a construction site is not a fixed installation: equipment has to arrive fast, set up without an IT project, move as the works advance, and de-mob cleanly at the end. When a limit is approached, the site manager needs to know in real time — not in a report after the fact. The usual result is two or three single-purpose vendors, separate logins, and manual reporting.
How Devlabs helps
On site within days, no IT required
DGEM units connect over 4G LTE on a pre-configured SIM and self-provision on first power-on. There's no site network to arrange, no commissioning project — units arrive, power up, and appear on the dashboard. They reposition as the build moves and de-mobilise cleanly at handover.
Dust & air quality
PM2.5/PM10 with particle number, plus NO₂ and CO from diesel plant where the permit requires it — at the boundary or at dust-sensitive receptors.
Noise
Sound pressure level and LAeq in dB(A) against consented limits, on the same boundary unit.
Ground-borne vibration
Where piling, compaction or demolition runs near existing structures, the Devlabs vibration monitor provides continuous awareness-grade PPV, KB and dominant frequency monitoring with threshold alerts — a continuous trending record for the site team and the consultant.
Discharge water
WQS systems at outfalls and dewatering points monitor pH, turbidity, TSS, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and flow against discharge consent conditions, with per-parameter breach alarms — wireless, with a Devlabs gateway where LoRaWAN coverage is needed.
Live alarms across every parameter
Dust, noise, vibration, water — each carries configurable thresholds that send email and SMS the moment a value is approached, to whichever site contacts need them. This is how clients use the system day to day.
The weekly compliance report
A scheduled PDF lands in inboxes every week with the past week's readings and every alarm raised — the auditable record that keeps the site manager, consultant and authority aligned without anyone logging in.
General site sensing
Where a location needs a simple wireless temperature/humidity or perimeter reading rather than a full DGEM, Devlabs LoRaWAN Systems add it to the same dashboard at low cost.
Standards & measurement classes
| Domain | What we report | Against |
|---|---|---|
| Dust | PM1 / PM2.5 / PM4 / PM10, particle number | Indicative dust monitoring for permit conditions |
| Noise | SPL, LAeq, dB(A) | IEC 61672 Class 2; Class 1 available on request |
| Vibration | PPV, KB value, dominant frequency | Awareness-grade — DIN 4150-2/3, BS 7385-2, SBR-A/B |
| Water (discharge) | pH, turbidity, TSS, conductivity, DO, flow | Point-source discharge consent |
Devlabs air quality is indicative monitoring — not a certified reference instrument for regulatory reference reporting. Where a permit condition requires reference-grade measurement, we advise on parallel arrangements.
Devlabs vibration monitoring is awareness-grade. For formal regulatory compliance measurement requiring a certified instrument (DIN 45669-1 Class 1), a calibrated geophone-based system is required — Devlabs can advise on arrangements.
Deployment scenario
An urban redevelopment carrying planning dust and noise conditions, with a piling phase next to occupied buildings, needed monitoring on site fast and no IT project. DGEM boundary units covered dust (PM2.5/PM10) and noise; Devlabs vibration monitors sat against the structures nearest the piling; a WQS system covered the mandated dewatering discharge point. The contractor's environmental lead received live email/SMS threshold alerts and a single weekly compliance PDF for the duration of the works — then the units de-mobilised at handover.
